MUD DO FEEL
HEAR TALK SEE
Throughout his interdisciplinary practice Aous Hamoud explores the relations that exist and more importantly can be made to exist between the organic the non-organic, the human and the non-human. Hamoud’s Mud do Feel gives agency to the previously unheard sounds of Morecambe Bay’s mud-scapes by recording hidden sounds that emerge from the mud in response to both human and technological/digital signals. Hamoud decodes and re-presents these undeniably singular responses - returned from what most would consider to be ‘dumb’ and inanimate matter. The sound sculpture creates a network of elements which indicates that mud can do, hear, see, touch, and feel. Hamoud’s close engagement with the mud of Morecambe Bay and his ability to make audible these responses, prompts us to re-think our understanding of - and relation to - nature, re-negotiate our anthropocentricism, and to explore the role of technology in allowing the human to initiate and share previously ‘unheard’ conversations with the natural world.

FOOTAGE FROM RE-BOOT! 2022
An abstract to wider process and development of the mud journey from Morecambe Bay to the studios of LICA and the transformation it went through.

The images were taken during the making of the installation. In assossiation with what is on the "table" and around it mud has approached Bowland Annex as an independent species through a dialogue with the machine and the space.
