The artwork I present here is an installation consisting of a series of drawings that have been buried, excavated, cleaned and displayed. The inspirations for the individual drawings have been collected mainly by asking people about what they visually associate with the passage of time and mortality. As a result, the final installation is a collection of personal symbols, the destruction of which creates a sense of loss of individuality in the general flow of life and death.
Through the drawings, I explore the notion of time and its passage. In its most fundamental aspect, my project is about merging the drawing practice with the past in a process by which it becomes one with nature. By reflecting on death, the series of drawings expresses a sense of unity that manifests itself in decay - unity with nature and history, with what is lost and what will be.
