The Loop
Most filmmakers turn towards editing films in a way that provides us with a simple and coherent view of the world, abiding the laws of time and space - a safe representation of the world that will appeal to most audience members.
But everyone’s mind and eye is open to experiencing the world in an array of ways, unique to them, and these experiences don’t always have to abide by these rules.
A more unique interpretation of time and space, often intertwined with and influenced by memory and emotion, can instead be brought about by paticular events. The event made use of in this film is that of violence where a character knocks themselves unconsious and in doing so experiences a distortion of their perspectives (time and space, as well as colour and more.)
This short film displays an attempt to recreate these particular abilities of the mind that avant-garde experimental cinema has a long history of daring to capture, in our film The Loop.
