About
Throughout my design journey at Lancaster, I have carefully considered my role as a designer in helping to create futures which are beneficial for people and the planet. Within the projects I take, it has been essential that I consider the impact my work can have and how I can use it to help create better futures. Now that my time at Lancaster has ended, I hope to further my skillsets by working in the design and technology industry for my future career prospects and help create better futures.
Sport Lancaster App Design Interactions Project || 2021
I conducted this individual project over 10 weeks to redesign the booking feature of the Sport Lancaster App. I was able to redesign an intuitive system that is simple to use and easy to learn, thus making the booking process quicker and more efficient for users.
Results
Evolo Skyscraper Project || 2021
This project aimed to design a skyscraper which would help prevent the deforestation of rainforests in response to the United Nations sustainable development goal (SDG) of climate action. The 'Palmplex' was my design, which is both a vertical palm tree farm as well as residential building.
The Future of Exoskeletons || 2022
My project focuses on a future where those who are subject to paralysis may live a higher quality of life and not be limited by their disability due to the domestication of exoskeletons. It envisions a world where the need for wheelchairs is no more as the right to walk is meant to be for everyone. The project aims to highlight the significant impact this technology will have on changing a person’s life and improving its quality. Additionally, it will showcase unintended implications through design fiction, which may arise if this technology were to be domesticated.
Think 16 Project || 2022
This project highlights the present-day problem of obesity through speculative design, which "rather than solving problems, uses design to ask questions” (Raby, Dunne, 2009) about the foods we are allowing our children to consume. Two artefacts have been created ‘‘to encourage people to think critically about the issues that the designs of this future embody” (Coulton et al., 2018); in a world where children under 16 are unable to buy chocolate.
